First, Michael Allen and D'Angelo provide an awesome service here with their blog. They've helped too many people to count, in person, with their blog and in so many other ways. What have you contributed lately if ever jdocop? Costa Rica ain't even near being perfect. Michael is relating an off experience which he had. The DRIVER should have absolutely briefly gone over the rules of the company and inquired if anyone was in violation of those rules. I'd trust Michael Allen and D'Angelo's advice hands down any day over anything that you have to say jdocop. Also, I agree with Jennifer, I'm sure if Michael would have offered some dough to the driver, the response would have been "todo bien Don Michael!". Jason, who died and put you in fucking charge of being God to judge people? So what if Michael curses and says "fuck" and "fuck you"? So what if he uses what YOU consider ridiculous stock photos? I happen to like the fact that he's a human being and curses when he's pissed or frustrated and I happen to like his use of stock photos and anything else the fuck that he wants to put on his blog? His stock photos make me laugh and that's why I like em! Who the fuck are you dude to sit in jugdement? Just excercise your fucking right NOT be have anything to do with his blog asshole. I've been trying to put my finger on that something that's missing in Costa Rica and it's the cursing Goddamit! I miss the fucking cursing AKA colorful language. Cursing is part of the human expression, it's part of the human experience. Cursing makes one feel alive! Cursing is tons of fun! Cursing makes me feel alive karajo! So please Jason, don't be a fucking stupid pendejo man. Goinglike60, what the fuck man? Another pendejo with the venom bullshit! The guy was fucking venting on a bad experience! I like to know about these experiences so as that they might not fucking happen to ME puneta! How the fuck do YOU people vent???? Some people go in a fucking corner and cry their little eyes out. Other people will tell the object of their rage or frustration "fuck you" and other juicy choice words. Michael had every fucking right to be pissed off at Interbus. No one is forced to read, participate or otherwise view this blog. I enjoy Michael Allen and D'Angelo's Blog! I hope that you don't change anything with your blog Michael. And oh my, I'm so sorry about the French. ;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8012409977835989274.post-66427613033284592892014-03-25T23:11:47.719-07:002014-03-25T23:11:47.719-07:00Looks like a nice hotel that offers a great place ...Looks like a nice hotel that offers a great place to stay. We did the fast (left) one - I got flipped on my face for 1/2 the ride but no real threat of injury. The middle one- around the last turn, you're going so fast and it does a sharp dogleg drop. My brain barely processed the fact that I was like 8 feet above the slide and about to slam down on the slide bottom before I hit. Landed on my shoulder (which I've dislocated 9 TIMES) and by some miracle of God it didn't pop out. Hurt like a mother tho. I come from a dry area of Southern California and being in Costa Rica was very hard on me. I didn't enjoy much of it due to the mold that is everywhere! Outside I did fine though. It IS a very beautiful country. There is a lot to see. Gorgeous Toucan's! Seeing those in person is a MUST. Anyway, that being said, there is a lot to find fault with in Costa Rica, due to crime and roads, etc...I don't ever want to live there. It's just too overpriced and plus, with the mold allergy, I feel SO SICK. My poor husband has to travel there without me now but his family comes and stays here for months at a time and has their children born here in the states, so I don't feel that bad :( Costa Rica is a beautiful, flawed country. But it sure helps to travel there with someone who has lived there and is fluent in the language. If you aren't fluent and haven't read about the downside of living there, don't go! I watched two men sidle up to my husband in the mall and try to steal his wallet. The only luxuries he had on was an old pair of Levi's? The place is full of opportunistic people who are just as materialistic (if not more so) than anyone you'll meet here in the states. My advice? Visit Costa Rica but don't live there unless you're from there. People love their own country for the most part. But if they had the chance to live here in the U.S., Costa Ricans would rush in and then bellyache about us once they got here. Belive me, I've seen it!
ticoswifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07945484500693266118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8012409977835989274.post-22796525124620620422013-03-03T09:24:36.782-08:002013-03-03T09:24:36.782-08:00Lets get the facts straight. BUT 111 of those murders happened in Limon on the Caribbean Coast and were related to drug crimes. The vast majority of the rest were in San Jose and also drug related. Lets compare that rate to some major US metro areas: New Orleans (57.6); Detroit (48.2); St Louis (35.3); Baltimore (31.3); Oakland(26.3); Kansas City (23.4); Cincinnati (20.5); Philly(21.2); Atlanta (20.7); DC(17.5); Chicago (15.9); Milwaukee (14.2); Omaha (10.4); Boston(10.1); Denver (5.6); New York (6.3). So bottom line is its about as safe in CR overall as it is in Omaha! And if you avoid Limon and San Jose and are not a drug dealer then your chances of being murdered in CR are pretty close to zero.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8012409977835989274.post-81152565574262933322013-02-09T01:29:48.357-08:002013-02-09T01:29:48.357-08:00Thank you for such a great blog to share with.I en...Thank you for such a great blog to share with.I enjoyed reading it and I think other readers will also enjoy reading. Thanks for the good info!peter kennethhttp://www.thespringscostarica.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8012409977835989274.post-47785069988669548262012-11-28T11:40:05.424-08:002012-11-28T11:40:05.424-08:00Sad story...I have a few comments:

A person David's age would need 2500 calories per day...You cannot do that on berries and nuts. Just drinking the water in the park is going to get you sick for sure...Needing intravenous anti-biotics and a 3 day trip to the clinic. The sad reality is, Costa Rica has become much like Central America - Yes, CR has followed in step with Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. Crack cocaine is an epidemic and violent and indiscriminate crime is off the hook! Expats and tourists are subject to robbery assault and murder throughout the country on a regular basis! Pura Vida baby! Especially on the Caribbean side. People will kill you for your cell phone down there because they know they will never be caught and there is a significant anti American attitude in San Jose and Liberia. David likely came across the wrong people and lies in an unmarked grave...killed for the $50 bucks he might have had in his wallet. The message is, if you go, go with no less than 3 or stay home.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8012409977835989274.post-3483355306147240302012-10-13T20:40:30.207-07:002012-10-13T20:40:30.207-07:00Sorry that you got burned. ;( We took a trip to C...Sorry that you got burned. ;( We took a trip to CR a few years ago and it was amazing. Obviously this Tico(a) has not been in a truly tropical paradise, try Thailand or Ecuador, even Colombia can beat Costa Rica in many ways. The arrogance of some of its people thinking that they are better than everybody else is what is taking the country DOWN! High crime, overly expensive cost of living, Real Estate Crooks Paradise!, very corrupt in all levels, justice system totally inadequate and unfair to victims, very friendly to criminals, poor education in all levels, very ignorant people, especially those who attended higher education to Costa Rica standards, very very polluted, go to Tamarindo and the smell alone can prove it. A degenerated nation on its way to social collapse. We went into a shop in San Hose that was full of masks and we were immediately intrigued by them. After a lengthy chat with the shop owner we ended up putting in our request of the animals that we would like on our mask (all ones we saw on our trip)and she said she would see if it was possible if the artist could do all of them. We were blown away when we finally received the mask. He was able to incorporate every animal. It is such a sentimental piece for us and is definitely a conversation piece as it is hanging prominently in our living room. That's what makes CR such a great place. While most Americans are giving themselves early heart attacks and cancer rushing around stressed out like chickens with their heads cut off Costa Ricans relax and take their time. So the odd lunch might take an hour and a half. Big deal, sit back enjoy the scenery and your company. Life doesn't have to be so rushed and frenzied.

I also feel that you are exaggerating a little for dramatic effect. Sure some places have faster service than others but in my many years of visiting and living in Costa Rica I have never found it as bad as you say.

There's more to life than being in a rush. "Good service" to an American is going to be different than "Good serivce" to say, a Canadian (me). Without getting into specifics I frankly think most Canadians would think well of the service in general in Costa Rica. I can understand why Americans may not. There is something for everyone so if you find that you do not like the service you get in CR then you should find another place to visit (or live) that is more suited to your expectations (rather than insisting that the place bend to your expectations, because it wont).plexushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14221066846077853925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8012409977835989274.post-85796732984503638752012-05-30T08:35:38.270-07:002012-05-30T08:35:38.270-07:00Good advice.
