Why Gringo's DON'T Make it in Costa Rica

A large percentage of Gringo's leave Costa Rica within 2 years of coming here. Seriously, why don't Gringo's make it in Costa Rica? Gringo pricing? Tico time? Red Tape? WHAT? Here's the answer.

Re the fire, How is it going? Will he reopen and shall we have a fund raiser? Jim
At last, a honest answer about relocating to Costa Rica. Yor're not in Kansas anymore!
I always enjoy your videos but would love to know where you get your "80% end up leaving" numbers from?

Is this a fact or your opinion?

If it's a fact, it would be great to see exactly where the data comes from and if it's an opinion, I think it's important that this is mentioned.

In the last 13 years of living here and communicating with thousands of the 25,000+ VIP Members on my website at WeLoveCostaRica.com - The number one reason I have encountered why people return to their home country is people who must return to their homes to look after an aging or sick parent.

Yes, please source your statements when they are so outrageous.
80% in 2 years is not a good number... At least not in the southern Pacific region around Uvita, Ojochal and Dominical.

The 80% number was just how I started the sentence for 'Google Search' purposes but forgot to change it after I posted. My bad. But that said, when I state a number like that Atenas506, it's obviously not literal, just to tell you that the percentage is a 'HIGH' one and it is. So try to think outside the box a bit. Scott, thanx for the nice words, but I call 'bullshit' on the 'sick parent' thing. People leave here mostly for the reasons I mentioned, Culture Shock..and just for the fact Costa Rica is often not the paradise they were expecting.
During the year and a half that I've been down here in CR, I've seen many people pack up and leave after only a couple of years being here. The reasons have been varied; the birth of a new grandchild back in the US, not willing/able to learn Spanish, the culture shock (which should NEVER be underestimated), a spouse who was diagnosed with a life threatening illness, and the couple wanted to be closer to family in the US during a difficult time. One couple came down here for the adventure, stayed a couple of years and decided it was time to leave CR and go somewhere else. There are several that come down on a limited contract for work, then go back home when the contract is finished. They've enjoyed their stay here, but it's time to go. Others are here after coming here on vacation, loving it, then buying a piece of property("the own a piece of paradise thing") (bad idea) and later find out they've made a mistake. Obviously living here is not the same as taking a vacation. But you all know that by now. I have yet to hear of anyone returning to take care of an aging parent.
