Why Gringos Can Be Annoying in Costa Rica

As far as Costa Rica is concerned, many folks from the United States can be somewhat annoying at times, while other times just plain stupid/ignorant. And since there's a lot of us who live in Costa Rica as well as visit, it's good that you understand a few things. I made this video. enJOy!

Really? I never saw a gringo wearing a safari outfit in CR. But you did hit a few nails on the head - most prominently the "gringo way" vs. the "tico way." Funny that gringos think it should be done their way but dream about living the Tico way. Anyway, the empire is crumbling and it may be in that little Tico's life that he or she sees the end of gringo arrogance. But I must disagree on one point: Tico food sucks! It's not about it being spicy or not....it's about the lack of healthy eating. Okay, maybe in the Tico homes they serve more vegetables than meat and starch but whenever I am in CR-admittedly eating out-I just feel unhealthy. And as a vegetarian, it really sucks. (sorry for the crass use of terminology but well...I'm lazy.)

haha...there's tourists that absolutely wear that outfit.... and you're kind of substantiating my point about the food by saying you eat out when you're here... and they do have great fruits and veggies here. But anyway, thanx for the perspective, crass or not.

Great video, thankfully I learned these lessons long ago traveling to other countries, but I sure got reminded of them while in CR. only here for 12days but I've gotten embarrassed by other Americans at least ten times so far. Especially the "it's not like this in the u.s.!", if you wanted everything to be like home then stay home! Cost rica is such a wonderful place and Ticos are such a great people. If I could add anything it would be; keep all negativity to yourself and be a gracious guest while traveling, you'll have a much better time and devolope some great friendships along the way!!
