Just ANSWER the question PLEASE!

There may be no STUPID Questions, but there sure can be some SKETCHY answers.

The FACT is, most of you already know what I'm about to tell you. But it also seems to be true that it's quickly forgotten when you need to remember it the most.

Here's how it goes:

You ask your (Fill in the Blank) Costa Rica tour operator, taxi driver, waiter, bartender, travel agent, friendly gringo next to you in the restaurant, whoever for INFO regarding anything- BEST restaurant in the area, best tour company, where to go, what to do, something about buying real estate in Costa Rica etc. I'm sure you get the picture.

Nine times out of ten their answer has AGENDA written all over it.

We made this video so you would remember to file away this little tidbit of INFO in the back of your brain somewhere when you're traveling around Costa Rica.

Hope it helps:

I get what you are saying on the scams, and plan to pass the "Soy Gringo Flat-Tire" Oldie but Goldie Video around, thanks!__Each year there seems to be another scam, and this is why I'm addressing what I believe could have been the closest I've come to being scammed....."UNA PREGUNTA!" ....this is what I heard as I passed by the tica in the road, next to his white pick-up truck...waving his arms....(get this) He was parked next to the bank on the east side of the Cariari Mall, between McDonalds and the east door of the mall. In case you don't know, una progunta means, "one question".....I could have hit him with my car if I hadn't been considerate enough to merge to the next lane. As I waited for the light to turn green, I watched him..He didn't stop the ticos driving by, only the gringos. I have no idea what he would have asked for or done
(continued) I am posting the story above with wishes for all tourists to be careful, and enjoy your time.....It's because of the people, and CR's beauty that makes it so special here.
I agree that the crime rate is over-blown, and put the guilt of the crime on the people who travel to any country and let their guard down......!!
Another consideration to note is the honking of the horn...
Please understand when the ticos honk their horn, they are always being rude. It's just something they do here...GRINGO'S, it's not a cue for you to flip-them-off. Infact, in the four weeks I've been here, I've not seen anyone flip anyone off, and I've been commuting from San Pedro/Barrio Dent to Cariari each day. The drivers seem pushy to be first and the motor-bikes are just plain nutzoid, but there is no violence that I've seen. That's it, my two-cents-worth...I wish you all a happy summer! Colette :)
