Red Cross pulls OUT of Search

It's not looking GOOD for the David Gimelfarb family.

Quick re-cap if you don't know the FYI on the David Gimelfarb situation.

On Aug. 11, 28-year-old David Gimelfarb set out for a solo trek through the dense Rincon de Vieja National Park, a popular Costa Rican destination, and hasn't been seen since. His SUV was found by park rangers.

Now, the helicopters fitted with infrared have gone home, the people who FIND people, ResQglobal, packed it up about 5 days ago (not a good sign when they leave) and NOW, even the Red Cross has ended its rescue efforts, "at least temporarily." Not sure what "at least temporarily" means? Are they on a bathroom break... will they return after a couple weeks of rest and relaxation... WTF is, "at least temporarily?" David's family has hired approximately 40 locals to continue the search... for Rincon de la Vieja, they could use a 1000x that number. I wonder if dogs were ever considered, it seems like they could have been a GREAT asset, especially in the dense jungle, ravines and places humans just can't go. But I'm sure there's a reason.

My HEART goes out to the David Gimelfarb family. I can't imagine... and really, I don't want too. Their minds must be working overtime- scenarios they don't EVEN want to consider, running through their brain cells like a bad horror flick. A parents WORST nightmare. And now they have to consider the possibilities- HOPE of finding David alive, or even finding him at all, as remote and vast as Rincon de la Vieja itself. Don't get me WRONG, I still think it's a bit premature, I'm just saying now their MINDS must be considering the possibilities, where before HOPE, FAITH and adrenalin kept BAD thoughts at bay.

I'll save the, 'Don't hike alone in Costa Rica' post for another time, but sometimes it pisses me off that many THINGS that happen here, theft/crime in Costa Rica etc, and possibly even this, could SO be avoided, or at least, consequences could be minimal. But I digress.

My brain cells are racing as well. I speculate he either: a) Fell a substantial distance into a place very difficult to search. b) Wherever human beings are, FOUL-PLAY is always a possibility. c) Same as 'a', but his body became consumed in the 'circle of life' so to speak after dieing or laying unconscious from 'whatever'. d) Staged the whole thing because LIFE became to hard and he wanted to start over somewhere else. Sorry, but my brain can't help what it thinks.

But then AGAIN...

But thoughts are thoughts. Fuck'em. As for me, I would continue the SEARCH if it were my son... and then search some more... and SEARCH after that... and when I felt I had done ALL I possibly could... and my head FINALLY wrapped itself around the probabilities... and HOPE turned into mere wishful thinking- I would STOP.

BUT now is not the FUCKIN time. The Gimelfarb's need YOU (us) now MORE than ever, so Rally the TROOPS, circle the wagons, double the efforts and don't EVER forget... this could be your son, your daughter, your loved one... so when you think it's time to 'face reality',.. please don't actually try to convince me you'd give up the SEARCH for your loved one after only 3 weeks.

If one person can make a difference, just think what 1000 could do.

Kinkajou's and other matters of DEATH

La Fortuna Costa Rica- Death of a Kinkajou

Well, gotta say, we’re BUMMIN’ today. Last night driving past Baldi Hot Springs we ran over and killed a Kinkajou. (More Info) on the kinkajou.

We’re not bummin’ because we feel guilty or somehow responsible per se, as this accident would definitely fit UNDER the, ‘came out of nowhere’ category, but a Kinkajou… why couldn’t it have been a kudamundi or something?

I know, I know… all creatures are just as IMPORTANT as any others… blah, blah, blah, but had you ever seen a kinkajou? Me, I didn’t even know what one was before moving to Costa Rica. Running over a kinkajou is like killing a sloth or squirrel monkey in my Book. They’re just so CUTE, CUDDLY and INNOCENT… and really, you don’t see them often, almost NEVER, so it seems so WRONG. Besides, I like the animals I run over to be UGLY.

Iguanas, some snakes, various no-name birds, possums, deer, raccoons and yes, even kudamundies are acceptable forms of ROADKILL to me. Sloths, squirrel monkeys, margays/ocelots, kinkajous, macaws and some others- ARE NOT. So sue me if I don’t mourn the death of an unlucky iguana. Me dying tomorrow is one thing, but my son would be an entirely different thing… maybe not the best analogy, but that’s how I feel about the Kinkajou dying, say, versus an iguana. But I realize iguana’s have families too.

It's not that kundamundi's aren't cute in their own rodent type of WAY... but there are PLENTY of them and they could use a little population control ANYWAY.

It’s buried next to the church in the center of La Fortuna. Now THAT wasn’t done by me, I don’t really bury animals. Although I love animals, I would have tossed it in the ditch a long side the road…. just sayin. I believe the Kinkajou’s death would have been better served in the ditch, where other animals could have gnawed on it a bit for an easy meal ……. I’m a Circle of LIFE kinda guy. And for the record, my body could be thrown in a ditch (dead of course) as well, although I’d rather be given to some kind of scientific research center, I got no problem with buzzards do’in their thing on me. And in my mind, we're pretty much KIN to the buzzard anyway. lol

Oh well, LIFE goes on and that’s ALL I really know for sure.

Sit back, listen to some Cold Play and check out some of the best Iguana Roadkill footage you may ever see:

Dear Costa Rica Traveler,

'Travel Costa Rica NOW, Do'in Costa Rica, Do'in GAY Costa Rica and iCostaRica24, ALL say THANX... we appreciate the LOVE'.

We LOVE receiving emails and comments about our videos and blog posts- it’s ALWAYS nice to be recognized and appreciated for the work you do, and for me, a nice boost to the ‘ol self esteem. We even like ‘constructive feedback’ emails and comments as it ONLY makes us BETTER in the long run.

The fact someone took the TIME to comment- is TRULY appreciated… well mostly anyway. Let me clarify.

First, it should be noted- We try to answer any and all emails and comments we receive PERSONALLY. We feel it’s IMPORTANT. That said,

We also get these types of Emails:
“We’re planning a trip to Costa Rica, can you recommend where we should go? We only have 6 days.”
“How can we get to Rio Celeste from La Fortuna without taking a paid tour?”
“How’s the weather on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica in June?”
WTF? Are you NEW to the internet? Have you heard of the GOOGLE search BAR?

GOOGLE yourself. Just type in- 'Costa Rica', 'weather' and 'Pacific coast'... you'll be surprised what POPS UP.

Do you see the problem? They ask a VERY broad question in one sentence which demands at least a paragraph to answer. Sorry guys, no disrespect, but I don’t have neither the TIME nor the INCLINATION to do your research and homework for YOU.
Now, if you want US to put together your Costa Rica Travel Package, gay or otherwise, or perhaps show you Costa Rica personally, well, that’s an ENTIRELY different matter… and of course would include the exchanging of monies for services… just sayin.
And here’s the RUB. Our websites and VIDEOS provide about 85% of the answers to any questions concerning a vacation in Costa Rica. But believe me, there are a TON of GREAT Costa Rican websites which can answer the other 15%-Although admittedly, it’s NOT always easy to find the good, informative ones. DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

I’ve already done mine (2 years of it so far, but I’m not complaining mind you).

F*** YOU! very, VERY MUCH... the song.

I swear I TRY to keep my GAY and STRAIGHT blogs separated. But sometimes, I just can't HELP myself. This is one of those times. If I lose some readers, so BE it. The song speaks for itself.

FINALLY, Do'in GAY Costa Rica finds the perfect GAY Song with the perfect GAY message to ALL those bigoted, HOMOPHOBES out there. A song that says what many of us GAY, faggotty types having been trying to say for years- but SO much better. So to ALL my closeted GAY Tico friends, or ANYWHERE else GAY is not accepted, let this SONG give you the COURAGE.

I dedicate this SONG to the following folks/organizations who seem to have a hard time finding the LOVE in their hearts:

* The Roman Catholic Church BUT especially to one of the BIGGEST Roman Catholic PENISES in all of Costa Rica, the Archbishop Hugo Barrantes. That's him, see the resemblance?

* Family members, so-called friends or ANYONE else for that matter who MAKES it, or MADE it HARD for young gay boys or lesbians to COME OUT.

* The redneck owner of Don Rufino's Restaurant in La Fortuna Costa Rica.

* The likes of Pat Robertson, James Dobson, and the very FAT but thankfully DEAD, Jerry Falwell. Side note: The death of that 'fuck' was one of the BEST days of my LIFE, barely edged out by the birth of my children and of course WINNING a BIG ass house in FIJI.

* OH, and last and least, an old child hood friend, Rick Jones, who deleted me off his FACEBOOK friends list for being GAY.

Feel Free to learn the words and SING a long, it's really quite catchy... and GAY!

I'd like to say 'THANX' to the Costa Rica Blogger for turning me on to this video. And you should check out his BLOG, he's got TONS of GREAT Info about Costa Rica... not that we don't.... just sayin.
